Wound Closure Zipper is a medical device designed to provide a non-invasive way to close minor lacerations or wounds. Then, how to use it ?
1. Clean the wound: Start by cleaning the wound thoroughly with an appropriate antiseptic solution to reduce the risk of infection. Gently pat the area dry.
2. Prepare the skin: Trim or remove any hair near the wound site to ensure proper adhesion. If the wound is bleeding, you may need to apply direct pressure to stop the bleeding before applying Wound Closure Zipper.
3. Position Wound Closure Zipper: Open the Wound Closure Zipper package and remove the device. Place it over the wound, ensuring that the two adhesive strips align with the edges of the laceration.
4. Apply tension: While holding the device firmly against the skin, use your other hand to stretch and pull the white tabs on either side of the Wound Closure Zipper. This action will create tension and bring the edges of the wound together.
5. Check the closure: Inspect the wound to ensure that the edges are well-aligned and the tension is appropriate. If necessary, you can readjust the tension.
6. Cut the pull tab off: Use scissors to subtract the extra tab
7. Apply point disinfection: Disinfect the wound again with Povidone-iodine swabs
8. Cover a secondary dressing on it, like non-woven dressing, to protect wounds and reduce infection
